Welcome to KCDN

This is KCDN, an Environmental Management, Economic Empowerment and Poverty Eradication Civil Society.

We welcome you to our site. Kindly feel free to share with us your thoughts. Ideas that add value will be appreciated. Ideas that want to make us improve our physical environment will be welcome. And more so, ideas that redirect us from the lost cause will be of immense value.

It is us who will improve the lot of our Environment, our Economy and make Kenya a Clean Country, where People join hands to work for our own Economic Emancipation and where Municipal Solid Waste Management is looked at as a resource, not as waste.

We need to set the standards in this region of the World and become the referral point in how a people can join hands and work for their own Economic Liberation, where waste can be used as raw material and become a source of employment for our people.

Our collective actions will surely make a difference. This is why in partnership with our Key Strategic Partners- The Public Service Transformation Department, the National Environment Management Authority, the Ministry of Environment and Mineral Resources, the Ministry of Public Health and Sanitation,other key Ministries, the Local Authorities in Kenya, the Provincial Administration, A Better World, Akiba Uhaki Foundation and other Partners, we are moving deliberately in sensitizing and mobilizing Kenyans to work towards A Clean Kenya where waste is separated at source.

And this is why we are inviting Kenyans to join with us in The Clean Kenya Campaign and be a Member of Kimisho Sacco Society Ltd

Welcome.

Boost to the KCDN Peace Building Campaign

Dear Friends,

The PEV Photo Exhibition and Dialogue scheduled for Dandora 1 on 8th and 9th May 2010 received a boost with President Mwai Kigenyi Mwai Kshs 7,955.00, Mr. Elijah Agevi pledging Kshs 1,000.00 in support, Mr. Aurelio Rebelo [Senior Counsel] pledged a support of Kshs 5,000.00 which he is sending to me and Mr. Evans Machera who sent us Kshs 1,000.00 yesterday.

This is very encouraging and it confirms to us that, YES, we can do it ourselves. We can all join hands and contribute little by little to advance the need for Peace, National Healing and Reconciliation. Even as we campaign for our various positions on the envisaged constitution, we must all know that Kenya and Kenyans come first.

Let not our friendship as a people be compromised by our personal inclinations. Let us debate the constitution soberly and with facts. At the end of the day, we will remain neighbours, brothers, sisters, and colleagues. So, let us campaign for Peace as we campaign for either YES or NO.

The need for Peace, National Healing and Reconciliation in Kenya needs to be made an issue at our individual levels. When we have conflict, it is us who loose out; it is us who get killed; it is our property that gets destroyed; it is our people that get displaced; it is our sisters and mothers that we rape; it is our children that suffer.

So, as we thank Mr. Rebelo and the other Friends of KCDN who have since given us support, we want to appeal for more financial support to make this day happen. We are on our own and YES, we can do it.

So far, a few people have responded to our call and given us their support as follows;
  • Mr. Samson Olendo Kshs 10,000.00
  • President Mwai Kigenyi Mwai Kshs 7,955.00
  • Ms Abida Chiera from the US Kshs 5,213.00
  • Mr. Aurelio Rebelo Kshs 5,000.00 [Pledge]
  • Mr. Evans Machera Kshs 1,000.00
  • Mr. Elijah Agevi Kshs 1,000.00
  • Mr. John Onyango Kshs 900.00
  • Mr. Nick Oyugi Kshs 500.00
  • Mr. Richard Ochola Kshs 500.00.
I want to believe that whenever there is a will, there is a way.

Peace and blessings Bro,

Updates for PEV Photo Exhibition and Dialogue in Dandora

Dear Friends,

We all know how volatile Dandora was immediately after the botched elections of 2007. Again, you heard the kind of reaction Picha Mtaani received in Kisumu recently. It is our wish that we engage with Kenyans in the streets and in their estates as a means to reaching out to the real players in the Peace Building process.

In our continuing efforts to advance the quest for Peace, National Healing and Reconciliation, we are reaching out to the 3 area Councilors Cllr Dick Nyaronye, Cllr Waititu Mwangi and Cllr Charles Atula so that they can be part of this healing process. I will be meeting with them tomorrow at City Hall to advance this process.

So far, we appreciate all the groups that have expressed interests in being part of this process, the latest being Nairobi City Carnival headed by Mr. Duncan Mwanyumba. Mr. Mwanyumba was a Defence Attorney at the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda [ICTR] in Arusha and he brings with him invaluable experience on Peace Building and Conflict Resolution.

This is how we are so far;
a] Participating Groups
  • National Steering Committee on Peace Building and Conflict Management
  • The Provincial Administration
  • The City Council of Nairobi
  • The Kenya Police
  • Celebrating Peace in Africa Youth Group
  • Kuna Vijana Youth Group
  • Nairobi City Carnival
  • Picha Mtaani
  • KCDN Nairobi

b] Financial Support
  • Mr. Sam Olendo Kshs 8,200.00

We will soon have a meeting with all these groups to agree on the programme for the 2 day event. But in the meantime, let us all be ambassadors for peace across Kenya as we look forward to voting YES for the proposed constitution.

We are looking forward to more participants coming on board to ensure that we reach far and wide in our quest for Peace, National Healing and Reconciliation.

Peace and blessings to all mankind.

KCDN is Changing

Greetings from us.

We have really come from far as KCDN, and all that we have done has been achieved because you believed in us. We are deleting all the names from our list as a way forward, but if you want to continue receiving our mail, we advice that you join us at friendsofkcdn@yahoogroups.com

If you visit our blog http://kcdnkomarockswatch.blogspot.com you will realize that it has been a struggle to do all that we have done.

Now that Akiba Uhaki Foundation has come on board and supported the development of our 1st 5 year Strategic Plan, we will be changing a few things. First, there will be some changes at the Board level so that we can have a team that can work towards the realization of our objectives. This team will have to be active and passionate about what we stand for.

Secondly, we will strenthen the team of our Strategic Partners. We do appreciate the support that we have received from the team as currently constituted. We are looking forward to having a more robust team that will help with policy matters as well us help fund raise with us.

Thirdly, we are from today limiting our interactions on line. We will start being focused as we engage directly with our Strategic Partners. If you wish to receive more info from us, please register with our online blog; friendsofkcdn@yahoogroups.com Through this line, you will receive all our postings. You will also reach out to the world with your thoughts, aspirations and fears as well.

Lastly, we want to extend our appreciation to all Friends of KCDN, Akiba Uhaki Foundation, and all prospective Partners in Development.

Peace and blessings to All Mankind.

Thank you again Mr Olendo

Having just given us Kshs 3,000.00 on 7th April 2010, Mr Sam Olendo gave us Kshs 5,200.00 again yesterday 10th April 2010. We at KCDN are very appreciative of this support and it encourages us to move our campaigns forward.

WE know what we are up against and this is why we have been appealing for your support and partnership. We want to also thank Akiba Uhaki Foundation for having supported the development of our Strategic Plan for the next 5 years. We have just finished our series of meetings to brainstorm on the same. What we are now remaining with is the development of the final document.

I will be meeting constantly with the consultant to enable us beat our deadline of 14th April 2010.

KCDN will reamain true to our thematic areas;
1] KCDN Child Support Initiative where we mobilize educational support for 1950 OVCs;
2] KCDN Peace Building Initiative where we will continue taking the PEV Photo Exhibition and Dialogue to the people; and
3] KCDN Environmental Management where we will continue playing an active role in environmental campaigns.

We can only do all these through your blessings, support and partnership, and we warmly invite your support as we move KCDN to the next level- together.
