Dear Kenyans,
Press
Release on the just concluded Party Primaries
We have just gone through two days of Party Primaries across
Kenya and at The
Clean Kenya Campaign, we want to make the following comments;
1. Democracy
is the rule of the People, by the People and for the People. Kenyans across the
board have made their clear choices for People they want as their next circle
of Leaders, and it now behoves the Party Mandarins to respect such choices and
give Certificates of Nomination to the winners. Kenyans are invited to exercise
their Democratic right to choosing their leaders every 5 Years and it starts
with the Party Primaries where Kenyans have made their choices. This should be
respected.
2. Politics is
not a matter of life and death where the winners gloat and boast. Politics
needs maturity and humility that comes with Service Delivery. We want to invite
all the winners to retain the highest fidelity to the rule of law and respect
the provisions of our statutes and move forward in to the campaign period with
respect to all Kenyans. In the same vain, we want to invite all the losers to
be magnanimous and accept defeat. Political seats are never intended for only a
given class of citizens.
3. We have
seen cases of violence across all Kenya and more so in the TNA and ODM
Promaries. This is our collective shame and we must pull up our socks and
realize that violence in NEVER the best way of resolving disputes or expressing
anger. In this regard, we want to invite the Party Leadership at both the TNA
and ODM to come out strongly and rein in on the kind of hooliganism and
violence that we just witnessed. At the same time, we want to Congratulate the
Wiper Democratic Party and the URP for conducting fairly Peaceful Party
Primaries. Congratulations.
4. The way our
Journalists went reporting the Party Primaries has been wanting. Sensational
reporting will always irk the People and brook violence. We hence want to invite
our Brothers and Sisters in the Media to acknowledge the fact that we are all
Kenyans and we must collectively work for a Clean and Better Kenya. Let us
exercise restraint in how we report.
5. With
reference to Nairobi Gubarnatorial Race, the Membership in TNA have made their
chioce and nominated Mr. Ferdinand Waititu as their Governor Nominee. Let the
TNA Leadership respect this will of the People. In the same vain, the People of
Siaya have overwhelmingly voted for Mr. William Oduol as their choice for
Governor. Let the ODM Leadership respect this will of the People.
Lastly, let us use the experience we have gathered and seen
to work for a Peaceful and Clean General Elections.
Let us all work for a Clean Kenya and a Clean Africa as a Transformative
Deliverable as we turn 50 in Kenya. Odhiambo T Oketch,
