Welcome to KCDN

This is KCDN, an Environmental Management, Economic Empowerment and Poverty Eradication Civil Society.

We welcome you to our site. Kindly feel free to share with us your thoughts. Ideas that add value will be appreciated. Ideas that want to make us improve our physical environment will be welcome. And more so, ideas that redirect us from the lost cause will be of immense value.

It is us who will improve the lot of our Environment, our Economy and make Kenya a Clean Country, where People join hands to work for our own Economic Emancipation and where Municipal Solid Waste Management is looked at as a resource, not as waste.

We need to set the standards in this region of the World and become the referral point in how a people can join hands and work for their own Economic Liberation, where waste can be used as raw material and become a source of employment for our people.

Our collective actions will surely make a difference. This is why in partnership with our Key Strategic Partners- The Public Service Transformation Department, the National Environment Management Authority, the Ministry of Environment and Mineral Resources, the Ministry of Public Health and Sanitation, other key Ministries, the Local Authorities in Kenya, the Provincial Administration, A Better World, Akiba Uhaki Foundation and other Partners, we are moving deliberately in sensitizing and mobilizing Kenyans to work towards A Clean Kenya where waste is separated at source.

And this is why we are inviting Kenyans to join with us in The Clean Kenya Campaign and be a Member of Kimisho Sacco Society Ltd

Welcome.

The Nairobi Litter Picking Day

Friends and Partners,
This is a call to the residents of Nairobi, and it may be replicated in all Major Towns across Kenya.
A group of organizations keen on seeing a Clean Kenya have come together and decided that we will join hands and pick as much litter in Nairobi on the 22nd October 2011 as from 7.00am across all the 74 Wards.
The Director of Environment at the City Council of Nairobi Mr. Isaac Muraya has confirmed to us that the City Council employees and trucks will be available in all the 74 Wards to help in curting away all the garbage that we will be able to pick. We are also discussing if we can be allowed to simply burn some of these shit...the way General Kombo refers to this mess that is garbage everywhere you turn..
This team will be joined by the Kenya Anti Corruption Commission, the City Council of Nairobi, the Provincial Administration Nairobi Province and many more willing partners whom we have not reached out to.

There will be a Consultative Meeting for the Organizations that have come forward to join hands on Wednesday the 24th August 2011 at Integrity Centre at 9.00am to be officially launched jointly by the PC Nairobi Province Mr. Njoroge Ndirangu, the Town Clerk Mr. Phillip Kisia and the Director KACC Prof PLO Lumumba.
This is hence an invitation for you and your organization to join in and be part of this great effort to get rid of aimless waste in Nairobi and by extension, across all Kenya.
We at KCDN are happy that many Kenyans are responding to the need to having a Clean Neighbourhood. We are also appreciating that many more Kenyans are joining in this voluntary campaign all across Kenya and physically moving to the trenches to help clean our Motherland..
If you want to join in the Nairobi Litter Picking Organizing Committee, please write to us giving us your area of operations. We will be pleased working with the People of Kenya and like minded organizations from across Nairobi and Kenya in this great effort.
We also want to invite all friends of KCDN across Kenya to start mobilizing for the Great Day all across Kenya. Let us pick as much litter, polythene and all on that day.
In the meanwhile, we will be launching The Nyeri Clean-up Campaign this Saturday at the Lower Bus Park in Nyeri Town. The event will be officially launched my His Worship the Mayor of Nyeri Cllr Edward N Muteru in the company of other Guests.
Please join us in this drive that is aimed at changing our attitudes on how we dispose of our litter and garbage.

KCDN enters into Partnership with Media Machine

Friends,
We are pleased to announce our partnership with Media Machine in driving The Monthly Nationwide Clean-up Campaign from now on.

As you are all aware, we have done some tremendous job driving this campaign without any media attention and still, achieved a lot.
We started this campaign in partnership with the City Council of Nairobi in September last year and we have since partnered with the Municipal Council of Mombasa, the Municipal Council of Eldoret, the Municipal Council of Kisii, the Municipal Council of Kisumu and the Municipal Council of Mombasa.

We are on progress and we have a lot more coming up.
We are hence really pleased that Media Machine under the dynamic direction of Ms Pauline Njogu will give us the kind of media presence that we have missed out on from this Saturday at Donholm.
We also want to congratulate all the Friends of KCDN who have made this campaign the success story that it is. We owe you guys all.

KCDN Visits Thogoto Kikuyu

Friends,
Look at the attached photos carefully. The first one is of the Police Force in Mbita responding to the Clean-up Campaign organized by Paulosa Cleaning Services and other Partners recently in Mbita Point.
The second one is a day to day happening across Kenya. This is how we waste our dear Country, by throwing polythene, rags, foodstuff, metal and all sorts or waste carelessly. We took this photos today morning during our visit to Thogoto in Kikuyu where we had been invited by the Thogoto Community under the leadership of Jane Njoroge and Grace Kuria for a discussion on how to initiate the Clean-up Campaign there.

We took a walk to the source of River Nairobi and we were shocked.
If you look at the photos, you will see that a lot of waste have been dumped right in the village and by the thickets. The road has been washed off and descending down is some serious business.
My question is, how can one sane person wrap his/her garbage, take a walk with it to the forest and dump it there? Then we turn around to blame someone else once epidemics break out!

Kenyans, this is something we can all do. Let us make a concise decision about how we manage our waste and do the right thing. It will save us lots of agony in the future.
Let us rally all emerging leaders to address the issue of environmental degradation. Let us teach our kids that you do not drop even a pin on the ground. If you have to drop anything down, drop it in a waste bin.
Let us invite all the Companies who have interest on Corporate Social Responsibility to put their money in addressing issues environmental. Once we fix this, all else will fall in place.
Lastly, let us meet at Kileleshwa on Saturday the 30th July and help initiate the Monthly Nationwide Clean-up Campaign there. We can do it, so, let us roll our sleeves and move to the trenches.

General Kombo called me from Russia yesterday and passed his regards to all of us who are moving to the trenches. He is missing the action and he promised to be with us during his vacations in September.
Welcome back to the Trenches General.
As usual, A Clean Kenya Starts With Me. And a Peaceful Kenya is My Responsibility. And those who might want to be of support to us may get in touch with the undersigned.
We are looking forward to creating a partnership that will add value to this campaign with all willing Kenyans.
