Friends,
I have been invited to a Symposium in Arusha starting on the 8th Nov 2010 and I want to use that occasion to rally the people of East Africa to join us in moving all of East Africa to the next level.
In Rwanda, they have a Nationwide Clean Up Campaign every last Saturday of the Month and in this campaign, none other than the President HE Paul Kagame leads from the front line. It has made Kigali the cleanest City in East Africa.
In Kenya, we have introduced a City wide Clean up Campaign scheduled for every 3rd Saturday of the month and we are still struggling with it. We are inviting as many Kenyans from all the Counties to join in and take charge of the concept at their various Counties.
You will also remember that on the 22nd October 2010, we organized a very successful walk against corruption in Nairobi. We want to invite the people of East Africa to join us in these efforts; clean up campaigns and in the fight against corruption.
Let us make these twin issues our personal issues and we will indeed move East Africa to the next level.
In the enclosed caption, I am with Mr. David Walala from Community Alliance for Change based in Kitale Kenya, and Mr. Thomas Nelson Munghono from Nelsk Uganda based in Kampala Uganda.
We are determined to make a difference not only in our various Countries, but in the whole of East Africa. Let us unite and be part of the East African Community as we all join in the unfolding social, economic and political dispensation.
Peace and blessings to all of us.

Meru County Youth Forum
We were privileged to attend the inaugural meet of the Meru County Youth Forum in Meru yesterday 27th October 2010 at the Three Steers Hotel.
This was a Forum in a series of Forums we will be attending all across Kenya to invite Kenyans to stay with the Issues. We must Move the Country From Talking to Tasking.
In the last 47 years of Independence, we have just been talking. Our leaders have been giving us all theories about development and the irony is, it is them who have been developing themselves. The country has gone into debt of almost Kshs 1 Trillion and our leaders keep talking about development.
Every Kenyan born now is in debt of Kshs 30,000.00 at birth courtesy of our Talking Leaders.
Kenyans must wake up and take charge. We must ask our leaders to give us a score card. If the score card is laced with scandals and corrupt tendencies, me must pause and ask ourselves; what is the problem?
Meru County was our first stop in a series that will see us traverse the whole country. We will be joining hands with people like Chris Kinyua, Andrew Ndola Ndola, Raphael Otieno Sungu, Elijah Kombo, Paul Gitonga, Emmanuel Dennis, Wangui Mbatia and all major forces that love Kenya.
It is time....we reclaimed Kenya from lost leadership.

CCNSET on Traffic Management
26th October 2010
The Traffic Commandant,
Traffic Headquaters,
Kenya Police,
Nairobi Kenya.
Dear Sir,
Traffic Management in Kenya
On the 22nd October 2010, we organized The Great Nairobi Walk against Corruption. The walk was flagged off at Integrity Centre by Prof PLO Lumumba, the Director and CEO at the Kenya Anti Corruption Commission.
During the speeches at the KICC Court Yard, we made a clear resolve that time has come for Kenyans to enjoin in the war against corruption and in demand for service delivery from all Government Officers. This has been well captured by the introduction of the Rapid Results Management by His Excellency the President and the Rt Hon Prime Minister.
They have in their wisdom appointed state officers to help them run the affairs of state using the delegated powers we have given to them through our votes. Through that delegated power from the public, you have been appointed the Traffic Commandant and the buck stops with you in that docket.
Traffic Management in Nairobi, and indeed all across Kenya has been a messy affair and we are now writing this letter to demand answers from you. You will remember that in 2004, the Hon John Michuki, then the Minister for Transport, in one fell swoop, brought sanity to the matatu industry and all Kenyans supported his move by even walking to work.
Law and order was all of a sudden brought to the matatu industry and Kenyans sighed with relief.
Fast track the scene to now, 2010. The mataus are a law unto themselves in our roads. The Traffic Police seems not to even know the Traffic Rules. And impunity has set in to a worrying extent. Yet, HE the President and the Rt Hon PM, have in their wisdom used their delegated powers from the public to appoint you to run the Traffic Department!
If you do not know what is happening in your department, I will, on behalf of Kenyans shortlist for your attention some of the mess in your department;
1. The mataus are driven so carelessly in our roads. They float all known traffic rules and they behave as if they are a law unto themselves.
2. The matatus overlap and drive on the pavement at the slightest opportunity. This adds up to the tear and wear we see on all our roads, yet, it is the public that bears the pinch of taxation to have road roads in Kenya.
3. The matatus bang other cars and speed off. It is like we have no laws governing such acts of traffic offenses. And if you report such incidents to the Traffic Police, they do not act.
4. The matatu drivers hoot unnecessarily as their conductors bang their vehicles and shout for commuters. It does not make sense to them that we all know where we are going.
5. The matatus have big screens on their vehicles and they play deafening music all the times.
6. The matatus never stop inside the designated Bus Stops. They will always stop on the road, or, across the road as they block the flow of traffic.
7. The matatu crew have refused to wear uniforms as directed
8. The matatu drivers have the confidence that they are never held to account at personal levels whenever they cause an accident. They will dump that vehicle and jump into the next.
9. We all know that the PSVs have been banned from the CBD, yet, we all know that there are the untouchables that drive all the way into town and the Traffic Police look the other way.
10. We all know that most Traffic Police Officers wake up so early to only go and greet the matatu crews, not to enforce law and order on our roads.
These are only some of the complaints we have received from the public, which if you never knew of, are with you now.
To cap it all, you are failing the Police Force in Kenya. You have been entrusted by HE the President, the Rt Hon PM and the Commissioner of Police to man the Traffic Department, and all we can see is absence of law enforcement. On behalf of the people of Kenya, who are the ultimate appointing authority every 5 years, I want to bring to your attention that if you are unable to perform your duties as by law required, please vacate office so that a suitable officer who is equal to the task is appointed to enforce law and order in the Traffic Department.
Time has come for us to regain the rule of law and order in our roads all across Kenya. The people have spoken and we are watching you.

The Walk- 22nd October 2010
The Great Nairobi Walk against Corruption started with showers of blessings today morning at Integrity Centre.
Many groups turned up and I was most impressed by the Administration Police besides having the Band to lead the procession, also sent a contingent with a banner against corruption.
I must thanks the KACC fraternity for turning out in large numbers led by their Advisory Board members and Prof PLO Lumumba- the Director and CEO.
Transparency International who were of valuable help in hosting this event were led by their CEO Mr. Mbithi while Mugumo Communications Ltd were also well represented.
Prof Lumumba flagged off the walk which included students from Maseno and Moi Universities who came to Nairobi specifically for the walk. We had a good number of students from universities around Nairobi as well as from the Kenya
Polytechnic University, Bunge La Mwananchi, Association of Citizens against Corruption, The Youth Congress, The World Youth Parliament were in attendance led by their President Gerishom Okonda.
We must thank the Hon Fred Gumo- Minister for Regional Development for making time to be with us today. He was a real motivation in the fight against corruption since he knows that it is the political class that has led us down the wrong path for the last 47 years. And he said as much.
We must thank Mr. Peter Leley- Deputy Provincial Commissioner Nairobi and Mr. Dan Masetu- Assistant Town Clerk at the City Council of Nairobi for being in time and for walking with us the full length. They showed commitment and we must all join in and help them achieve results in the joint fight against corruption.
The CCNSET Fraternity were of valuable support. Besides walking with us, Ms Christian Anthony and Ms Petronila Nafula took charge of the
arrangements at KICC; Pst Ben Mutuku led us in the opening prayers while Mr. Elijah Agevi was at his best as the MC for the day- I bet he does this part time. He was brilliant.
The City Council of Nairobi Choir and members of the City Inspectorate were present, marched with us and also gave us some nice piece. We must salute them in encouragement.
Emergency Medical Services- a Division of the Red Cross was on standby and I am pleased that we had no major incidences. The only people whom they attended to were the ones who never walk any distances- but this number was small. Our appreciation to Nelly and the E-Plus team.
The Kashwesha Youth Groups, the Youth Congress and the United Artists against Corruption all captured our attention. We must intensify the fight.
More appreciation goes to Mr. Kinuthia Wamwangi and Mr. Elijah Agevi- members of the CCNSET team who came in very handy when the goings were getting tough. They were
a shoulder to lean on.
We cannot forget our Principals- Prof Lumumba- Director and CEO KACC, Mr. Kisia- Town Clerk CCN and Mr Ndirangu- PC Nairobi for their support and interest in the walk. I must make special mention of Prof Jane Onsongo whom I consulted with on a day to day basis and Dr Arbogast Akidiva who all put in great efforts.
The day was great and this marks the beginning of a new phase in the fight against corruption.
Lastly, I must thank KCDN Board and staff for giving us all the needed support in logistics and communications; Transparency International for their timely intervention and Mugumo Communications for their inputs to make this day possible.
We will be in singular communications with all the groups that attended the walk. But as for now, please accept out sincere thanks. You made it happen.
Peace and blessings,
Odhiambo T Oketch

Meeting
In our continuing efforts to sensitize Kenyans on the need to demand for service delivery as we all join in the fight against corruption, I was privileged to have a meeting with the Area DOs and Chiefs from Kamukunji and Starehe Division at the DCs Office in Pumwani.
This was a very interactive meeting where the DOs confirmed that the fight against corruption has been given prominence in their Performance Contracts. They also were happy that at long last, the citizens have decided to join in cleaning our estates.
They said they will play their role in sensitizing Kenyans on the twin issues of Environmental Management and in the Fight against Corruption and that they will participate in The Great Nairobi Walk against Corruption on 22nd October 2010.
I had previously met with the top leadership of the Kenya University Students Association, Kenyan Artists and the Matatu Drivers and Conductors Welfare Association.
We at KCDN are happy that we are making some positive impact on the thorny issues that have bedevelled us as a country for the last 47 years. We believe in positive and constructive engagements that create solutions to our problems.
We are inviting all Friends of Kenya to join us on the 22nd October 2010 in The Great Nairobi Walk against Corruption. The walk will be flagged off at Integrity Centre at 9.00am and the procession will be led by the Administration Police Band along Nyerere Road, University Way, Moi Avenue, Harambe Avenue, Taifa Road, City Hall Way into the KICC Grounds where the Director of KACC and invited guests will address the participants.
Peace and blessings,

We believe this will go along way in cementing our relationship in working together and making a difference in the lives of the most oppressed the disadvantaged and underprivileged members of our society.
Please find time to share with your colleagues our heartfelt appreciation for making the day a success. Your invaluable contribution as a Panelist inspired the participants. It was just too good and words cannot express what we feel.
Thank you once again and I look forward to continue working together to promote more similar activities.
Yours Faithfully,
Collins Odhiambo Opallah
