Welcome to KCDN

This is KCDN, an Environmental Management, Economic Empowerment and Poverty Eradication Civil Society.

We welcome you to our site. Kindly feel free to share with us your thoughts. Ideas that add value will be appreciated. Ideas that want to make us improve our physical environment will be welcome. And more so, ideas that redirect us from the lost cause will be of immense value.

It is us who will improve the lot of our Environment, our Economy and make Kenya a Clean Country, where People join hands to work for our own Economic Emancipation and where Municipal Solid Waste Management is looked at as a resource, not as waste.

We need to set the standards in this region of the World and become the referral point in how a people can join hands and work for their own Economic Liberation, where waste can be used as raw material and become a source of employment for our people.

Our collective actions will surely make a difference. This is why in partnership with our Key Strategic Partners- The Public Service Transformation Department, the National Environment Management Authority, the Ministry of Environment and Mineral Resources, the Ministry of Public Health and Sanitation, other key Ministries, the Local Authorities in Kenya, the Provincial Administration, A Better World, Akiba Uhaki Foundation and other Partners, we are moving deliberately in sensitizing and mobilizing Kenyans to work towards A Clean Kenya where waste is separated at source.

And this is why we are inviting Kenyans to join with us in The Clean Kenya Campaign and be a Member of Kimisho Sacco Society Ltd

Welcome.

Action at long last- PS Environment

Friends,
I am happy to report that at long last, we are Moving From Talking to Tasking.
The Permanent Secretary Ministry of Environment and Mineral Resources Mr. Ali D Monamed convened the 1st Meeting between the Government, NEMA, the City Council of Nairobi and a few Stakeholders this morning at the Conference Room at the Ministry Headquarters, and the PS was very clear- Waste must be removed from our midst.

In a meeting that was chaired by Mr. FN Kihumba on his behalf and Mr. Titus Simiyu- the County Director of Environment-Nairobi County, clear steps on the Process of Separation of Waste at Source was mapped out.

In Partnership with Tetra Pak EA Ltd, all the various Groups in Nairobi are invited to start sorting out all Tetra Pak Packaging and even the hydrophobic packaging materials for immediate delivery to Tetra Pak EA. All the Groups will be zoned and given clear mandate as the Pilot Process targets Eastleigh Estate.
This initiative will see the Ministry and her Partners giving technical and material support to all Groups that will be involved. They will be supporting Practical Steps that include sorting, holding grounds, transporting, bailing and all that.
We at The Clean Kenya Campaign are elated to be part of this great initiative. We want to invite all Organized Groups in Nairobi to reach out to us for more information. We will send out forms to all Groups who might want to be part of this Great Transformation.
All Kenyans are invited to help by keeping their immediate neighbourhoods clean
The meeting was also attended by Representatives from the Ministry of Energy and the City Council of Nairobi.
In the 2nd meeting next week, we will involve more players, Teams who have something to offer and ultimately, we will create a Network of Stakeholders in the Waste Industry with one Clear Objective- that all Waste must be removed from our midst.
We have too many players in the Waste Industry all working at cross purposes and this initiative is going to reign on all the pretenders.

In the meantime, we will be meeting a select Team for a Strategic Planning Session on the Waste and Garbage issue along the Ngong River Tributaries in Lindi and Laini Saba tomorrow at 9am. Due to some changes, the meeting will be hosted at City Hall Annexe 1st Floor Room 116.
I want to sincerely thank all our Key Partners in The Clean Kenya Campaign. Your efforts have ultimately yielded some positive action which we must all support. And for all those in authority, and are unable to help move the process forward, your time is up. You cannot occupy Government Space and time and deliver nothing. You will either have to pack and ship off, or, you will have to shape up and start working.
Let us all work for a Clean Kenya as a Transformative Deliverable as we turn 50.
