Welcome to KCDN

This is KCDN, an Environmental Management, Economic Empowerment and Poverty Eradication Civil Society.

We welcome you to our site. Kindly feel free to share with us your thoughts. Ideas that add value will be appreciated. Ideas that want to make us improve our physical environment will be welcome. And more so, ideas that redirect us from the lost cause will be of immense value.

It is us who will improve the lot of our Environment, our Economy and make Kenya a Clean Country, where People join hands to work for our own Economic Emancipation and where Municipal Solid Waste Management is looked at as a resource, not as waste.

We need to set the standards in this region of the World and become the referral point in how a people can join hands and work for their own Economic Liberation, where waste can be used as raw material and become a source of employment for our people.

Our collective actions will surely make a difference. This is why in partnership with our Key Strategic Partners- The Public Service Transformation Department, the National Environment Management Authority, the Ministry of Environment and Mineral Resources, the Ministry of Public Health and Sanitation, other key Ministries, the Local Authorities in Kenya, the Provincial Administration, A Better World, Akiba Uhaki Foundation and other Partners, we are moving deliberately in sensitizing and mobilizing Kenyans to work towards A Clean Kenya where waste is separated at source.

And this is why we are inviting Kenyans to join with us in The Clean Kenya Campaign and be a Member of Kimisho Sacco Society Ltd

Welcome.

With this done, today was one hectic day for us at The Clean Kenya Campaign.
I was in a Strategic Meeting with a small team to help address the Ngong River Tributaries in Lindi and Laini Saba in Kibera.
The Strategic Team meeting was attended by
  1. Chief Patrick Adira from Laini Saba in Kibera,
  2. Ms Jenet Mule- Ministry of Public Health and Sanitation.
  3. Ms Martina Mueni- Ministry of Education.
  4. Ms Irene Ochieng'- Kounkuey Design Initiative.
  5. Mr. Kidaha Vincent- Bunge La Mwananchi Kibera.
  6. Mr. Gabriel Odira- Usalama
  7. Mr. Frederick Omondi- Emcof
  8. Mr. Kepher Wanjir- Emcof
  9. Mr. Dairus Mutinda- Usalama
  10. Ms Florence Muhonja- Laini Saba, and
  11. Mr. Odhiambo T Oketch- The Clean Kenya Campaign- TCKC
This was a brainstorming session to help give some sharp focus to the problem that is waste and waste management in Lindi and Laini Saba areas of Kibera.
We noted that we have a few NGOs and CBOs doing great works in Kibera and we are inviting all of them to a Consultative Forum to be hosted on the 12th October 2012 at Ushirika Hall in Laini Saba.
We assigned various responsibilities to the present Team Members to reach out to the identified groups for this meeting. In case you are operating in Kibera and you feel you can add value to this Initiative, you are free to get in touch with the undersigned.
Secondly, I was in a meeting with the leadership of the Nairobi Market Traders Society to help give direction to the Massive Market Clean-ups scheduled for the 10th October 2012.
We had agreed in a joint meeting with the City Council of Nairobi that the Clean-ups will be launched at Wakulima Market, and to this end, the NMTS Leadership will be meeting with the Director of Social Services and Housing at the CCN tomorrow at 9.00am to press this agenda forward.
At the same time, I will be hosted at Radio Waumini where I will be talking about waste and waste management in Kenya.
Lastly, I was at the Kenyatta University to address the Mini Summit on Green Economy where I talked about Cash in Trash- one area that we have always just glossed over.
I am happy this is coming at a time when we are engaged in initiating the process of separation of waste at source in Nairobi as well as training on waste conversion.
We are very appreciative of the support we have continued to receive from all our Partners in this Journey of Hope across Kenya.
Let us all work for a Clean Kenya as a Transformative Deliverable as we turn 50.
