Welcome to KCDN

This is KCDN, an Environmental Management, Economic Empowerment and Poverty Eradication Civil Society.

We welcome you to our site. Kindly feel free to share with us your thoughts. Ideas that add value will be appreciated. Ideas that want to make us improve our physical environment will be welcome. And more so, ideas that redirect us from the lost cause will be of immense value.

It is us who will improve the lot of our Environment, our Economy and make Kenya a Clean Country, where People join hands to work for our own Economic Emancipation and where Municipal Solid Waste Management is looked at as a resource, not as waste.

We need to set the standards in this region of the World and become the referral point in how a people can join hands and work for their own Economic Liberation, where waste can be used as raw material and become a source of employment for our people.

Our collective actions will surely make a difference. This is why in partnership with our Key Strategic Partners- The Public Service Transformation Department, the National Environment Management Authority, the Ministry of Environment and Mineral Resources, the Ministry of Public Health and Sanitation, other key Ministries, the Local Authorities in Kenya, the Provincial Administration, A Better World, Akiba Uhaki Foundation and other Partners, we are moving deliberately in sensitizing and mobilizing Kenyans to work towards A Clean Kenya where waste is separated at source.

And this is why we are inviting Kenyans to join with us in The Clean Kenya Campaign and be a Member of Kimisho Sacco Society Ltd

Welcome.

Kimisho Team in Nairobi

Dear Kimisho Members and potential Members,
First, I will be hosted at Radio Mayienga from 5pm in the evening today. You are all invited to participate.
Secondly, our Team Leaders in Nairobi met yesterday at Garden Square from 11.00am to 1.00pm and it was a very nice get together.
Kimisho Team Leaders from Nairobi in a Meeting at Garden Square yesterday the 15th June 2013
Kimisho Community Development Network-KCDN was just registered last Month and already, membership is growing in leaps and bounds. We are determined to do things very differently this time around. In the past, we were a loosely voluntary organization but this time around, we have becomes a Members Organization, where decisions are made at the Annual General Meeting and effected by the Board through the Executive Wing.
KCDN Members have also Registered Kimisho Sacco Society Ltd-KSSL, another Members Organization. Again, decisions here will be made by Members at our Annual General Meeting and effected by the Board through the Executive Wing. KCDN and KSSL will drive on Three Pillars namely;
  1. Environmental Management,
  2. Economic Empowerment and
  3. Poverty Eradication
We are rolling out across Kenya and as such, we have identified our Team Leaders in the following areas;
  1. Nairobi North,
  2. Nairobi South,
  3. Nairobi East,
  4. Nairobi West,
  5. Busia,
  6. Siaya,
  7. Kisumu,
  8. Homa Bay, and,
  9. Migori
It is indeed going to be exciting times for our Members as we all join in this Journey of Hope across Kenya. We are going to work closely with like minded Kenyans, Partners and Friends and our two catch phrases are the two that have become our National Vogue;
  1. Tyranny of Numbers, and
  2. Move on.
We must enjoy our Tyranny of Numbers to make us cushion ourselves from the hard economic times as Kenyans, and we must move on with our lives as a people even as we build possible partnerships that will help us achieve the objectives of our 3 Pillars.
May the good Lord grant all of us sufficient Grace to work for a Clean Kenya.

KImisho growing Strong

Dear Friends,
I was hosted for two and a half hours at Radio Mayienga yesterday night and it was a very invigorating discussion. One thing that really pleased me was when the Anchor raised with me some private letters that had been sent to them by some sour loosers.
Before I touch on this, we are saddened to have lost our 1st Member through a road accident in Yala on Tuesday. Mr. Francis Awuor Kizito from Alego Boro died instantly while Mr. George Awino from Kano is admitted to Aga Khan Hospital in Kisumu. May the good Lord rest the soul of Francis in eternal peace even as He gives his Family the strength to bear the lose. May the good Lord also grant George quick recovery.
Now, there have been many allegations touching on my person in the social media and yesterday, those communications were read for all to hear and make remarks on Radio. I want to sincerely thank all the many listeners who called in and encouraged me to ignore these people. I want to also sincerely thank all those who sent me sms and all those who have been calling me seeking to be Members of Kimisho Community Development Network- KCDN. I will NEVER be intimidated.
Kimisho Members in a past meeting
To all my detractors, I want to invite them to forward any complaint of impropriety on my part to any Government Authority and even to the Police. If there is any person I have ever conned in my life, kindly record your statement with the Police and I will be available to face any consequences. Or, if there is anyone I have ever wronged in any way, please make your report to the Police. But to keep calling me a conman on social media is what Askofu Kuria Mwangi refereed to as- wivu. It will never make me a conman.
I will NEVER be detracted from our Mission at Kimisho and our Members will NEVER be intimidated by these idlers.
Our Nairobi Team Members will be meeting tomorrow and on the 20th June 2013, I will meet our Members in Oyugis. On the 21st June 2013, I will be in Migori and on the 22nd June, I will meet our Members at Muhuru Bay and later at Awendo.
If you want to cook, you must prepare to face the heat in the kitchen. If you are afraid of the heat, there will be no food on the table. Similarly, if you want to be a train driver, you must never be afraid of the dark. I will hence never be cowed by these forces of darkness that thrive on wivu.
It beats all logic for some adults to keep discussing me all the time. Please find something useful to do, for, you will never break me down and you will never make me what you desire.
When I first talked about Kimisho, I was prepared for attacks on me, on my person and even on my Family. And I was prepared never to talk about personalities and their families. I am ready for these busy bodies.
May the good Lord give us strength to grow Kimisho to be the Next Big Thing in Kenya. We have the means, the numbers, the capacity, the goodwill and the drive.
Peace and blessings to all humanity and to all God's Bits of Wood.

Kimisho; An Inspiration

Dear Members,
I will be hosted at Radio Mayienga due to great Public Demand tomorrow night as from 9.20pm to Midnight. I will again be hosted at the same Station on Sunday from 5pm.
Now, this is great news for many of us. Building Institutions have never been an easy thing. We have only a handful that build Institutions, and I want to believe that we at Kimisho are doing exactly that.
I have greatly been inspired by living Legends- people who dreamt and dreamt big. We have Bill Gates who together with his wife Melinda Gates are managing the Bill Gates Foundation- a huge philanthropic outfit supporting many across the World.
Bill Gates was born on 28th October 1955 in Seattle Washington. At age 13, he had started showing great interest in software and programming and later, in partnership with Paul Allen, they built Microsoft. Who does not know Microsoft? And who does not know that Melinda Gates is wife to Bill Gates?

Odhiambo T Oketch and Fred Banja flanked by Mary Akello, Philemon Odhiambo and Kimisho Members in Busia on the 22nd May 2013
Businessman and investor Warren Buffett was born on August 30,1930, in Omaha, Nebraska. Like Bill Gates, he started investing and running a small business at 13. Buffett later started the firm Buffett Partnership in Omaha, with huge success. In 2006, Buffett announced that he would give his entire fortune away to charity (est. $62 bil.), the largest act of charitable giving in United States history.
In Kenya, I have been greatly inspired by Mr. James Mwangi, now Dr James Mwangi. His Father died during the Mau Mau struggles and he was largely raised by his Mother in Kangema. He is the sixth in a family of seven. While growing up, he tended to livestock, made charcoal, sold fruits and other produce for small gains.
Dr Mwangi has been my inspiration because, when Kenya was going through a turbulent period in the Banking Sector, Equity Building Society was being declared technically insolvent. In 1993, Mr. Peter Munga- Chairman Euity, and the then CEO Mr. John Mwangi, turned to James Mwangi. At this time, Equity Building Society had been making losses of Ksh 5 million every year and was now facing a cumulative loss of Ksh 33 million, the staff had not been paid salaries, morale was at rock bottom and membership was dwindling by the hour.
He accepted the challenge. He became the Strategy and Finance Director. At the time, Equity had 27 employees, 27,000 customers, five branches and stood at number 66 out of 66 in the financial sector rankings. He did not come in to start competing with his Chairman and CEO. What he felt most at this time was a heavy sense of responsibility. “I knew I could not let down the Chairman and CEO and, above all, I could not let down the customers. When I said ‘trust me’, I meant to keep my word.”
With this, he revamped Equity Building Society and the rest is now history. And we all know that Equity Bank is the largest Bank in Africa with a customer base of 8 million.
This is what we are building at Kimisho. We have the Tyranny of Numbers and the People on our side and we are determined to make it work.
I am not seeking people to come and compete with me at Kimisho. I am seeking Technocrats who can join hands with me and make us also build our own Equity. I have the full confidence that we are on the right track and the people are with us. I have been invited by many across Kenya to just come and talk with them, and I am picking the challenge always. Our focus is firmly on the Common Man and that Small Business Entrepreneur. We can build Kimisho together as a Team.
Like the Great Bill Gates, the Great James Mwangi, and all those Great God's Bits of Wood across the World, I am convinced that Our Journey of Hope across Kenya with Kimisho will never be in vain. And this is why we are inviting all men and women who believe that we can do it, to join hands with us as we build Kimisho into the next big thing in Africa.
We have the numbers, the energy, the goodwill and the drive.

KImisho; The Western Kenya Tour

Dear Members,
Following the Registration of Kimisho Community Development Network-KCDN and Kimisho Sacco Society Ltd- KSSL, we have been going round the Country to meet and discuss with our Members.
Mr. Paul kibugi- Cooperative Officer talks to Kimisho Members on the 21st May 2013. He is flanked by Mr. Fred Banja and Odhiambo T Oketch

I am pleased to report to all KCDN and KSSL Members that we are on track with our programmes. We will be inviting all our Registered Members for our 1st Annual General Meeting where the Board of Directors will be endorsed, rejected or pruned.
The Law is such that immediately you are Registered as a Sacco Society, Registered Members are invited to elect their office and as such, we at Kimisho are going to comply with this. We will give adequate Notice to all our Members and we will circulate the list of all those who are interested in the various offices.

In the meantime, I want to report that our Western Tour was very well received in Busia, Ugunja, Bondo and Gem. We were in Busia on the 7th June 2013, in Ugunja and Bondo on the 9th June 2013 and in Wagai Gem yesterday the 10th June 2013.

We have some more Country Tours as we popularize and mobilize Members for Kimisho.
I want to reiterate the common bonds that bring us together as One Big Kimisho Family. We believe and work for;
  1. Environmental Management,
  2. Economic Empowerment, and
  3. Poverty Eradication.
Therefore, all Kenyans who are working for Clean Neighbourhoods, engaged in small business ventures, and small scale business entrepreneurs are welcome. We are focusing on the small person; that small business person who has no opportunities to economic empowerment.
However, we will not turn the Middle Class away. We can all work as a Team.
Lastly, in the next 5 Days, we will unveil our General Manager to help steer Kimisho forward. We are in discussions that are very helpful and geared towards appointing the best person for this job. The rest will fall in place in due course.
May the good Lord give us His Grace and Strength to navigate through this Journey of Hope across Kenya.

KCDN on the airwaves and making progress

Friends,
On the 18th April 2013, I was hosted at Radio Ramogi at 8am and at Radio Mayienga as from 9.20pm to Midnight. I was being interviewed on the way forward for Kenyans after the inauguration of Hon Uhuru Kenyatta as our 4th President.
Remember, when Uhuru Kenyatta was pronounced the winner, he called on Kenyans to go back to work and this was a message we at The Clean Kenya Campaign-TCKC took to heart. We have since looked at what role each one of us can play in building our economy and working for our Economic Empowerment and Poverty Eradication.
Oto joins traders at Kongowea Market for a Clean-up of the Market in February 2012
Many Kenyans heard my message on the two Radio Channels and the response was overwhelming. In the first week, we received calls and sms messages from almost 6,000 Kenyans. We took not of all the calls and all the messages and we are building on this.
I was invited again to the Two Radio Stations once more on the 25th April 2013 to help put our thoughts and discussions in to proper perspective and the second Talk Show gave birth to Kimisho Community Development Network- KCDN.
We called a meeting of all those who were interested in joining hands with us on the 4th May 2013 and KCDN was duly Registered on the 6th May 2013.On the same date, Members decided to form Kimisho Sacco Society Ltd and we invited an Officer from the Ministry of Cooperatives who came and talked with us.
Odhiambo T Oketch- Team Leader and Executive Director; Kimosho
We have since formed a Board of Directors and we have met all requirements that are by law established for the establishment of a Sacco. We are a team that believes in;
  1. Environmental Management,
  2. Economic Empowerment, and
  3. Poverty Eradication.
And all Kenyans who believe in the same are invited to join with us. The Board will serve for a period of 3 years and they will be eligible for re-election.
We at The Clean Kenya Campaign-TCKC and now at KCDN do firmly believe that time has come for us not to ask Serikali itu saidie. We want to work hand in hand with the various arms of Government and any Friend who is willing to walk with us in this Journey of Hope across Kenya.
As has been our practice in the past, we will never respond to any calls for proposals, but we will work with partners who feel that we are doing the right thing.
We will fight for the right of all our Members to access affordable credit to empower their various businesses and we will join hands and pool our own resources to harness our own developments. We will engage in lots of sensitization and educational programmes across Kenya for the benefit of our Members and we will be inviting all of us to join our various Governors in working for a Clean Kenya by joining hands every 3rd Saturday of the Month in Massive Monthly Nationwide Clean up Campaigns.
We at KCDN are known to keep all the promises we make and this, we promise all our Members, we shall keep.
May the good Lord grant us his wisdom to navigate our national terrains in pursuit of Environmental Success, Economic Empowerment and Poverty Eradication amongst our midst. And may He inspire as many Kenyans to join with us in this Journey of Hope across our Land.
Peace and blessings to all God's Bits of Wood.

The World Environment Day- 5th June 2013

Friends,
I will be hosted at Radio Ramogi tomorrow at 8.00am in the morning and anyone who has access to a Radio can tune in. And today in the morning, Mr. Sam Okello- President of Sahel Publishing was hosted at Ramogi this morning and he discussed his new book- Luo Nation Rising. This is something we want to invite as many people to buy and read.
I bought my copy and Sam signed it off for me. Sam has been a great Friend to me and to KCDN and I am happy that he also Registered himself, his wife and his colleague as Members of Kimisho Community Development Network- KCDN when we met this morning.
The World will be celebrating the World Environment Day on the 5th June 2013. In Kenya, the main celebrations will be in Kisumu, while in Nairobi, in partnership with the Susan Owiyo Foundation, the Media, the Nairobi City County, the UNEP and many other partners, we will be hosting the Soko Bila Waste Initiative at the Wakulima Market.

On that Day, Susan Owiyo- the renowned Musician and a Team of her Friends from the Media will engaging in vending at Wakulima- to simply help create some focus on the waste that we generate and waste. Thereafter, there will be a Clean up Exercise at the Market.
We at The Clean Kenya Campaign are happy with the many Governors who have stepped on the pedal and identified that we can indeed live in cleaner neighbourhoods. We are happy that the concept of Monthly Clean Ups is slowly taking root across Kenya. We feel satisfied that we have played our part and now, someone else must take it to the next level.
We want to take this opportunity to invite all of us to simply do something on this day. Waste is never waste until we waste it.
May the good Lord grant us the courage to keep working for a Clean Kenya.
