We welcome you to our site. Kindly feel free to share with us your thoughts. Ideas that add value will be appreciated. Ideas that want to make us improve our physical environment will be welcome. And more so, ideas that redirect us from the lost cause will be of immense value.

It is us who will improve the lot of our Environment, our Economy and make Kenya a Clean Country, where People join hands to work for our own Economic Emancipation and where Municipal Solid Waste Management is looked at as a resource, not as waste.

We need to set the standards in this region of the World and become the referral point in how a people can join hands and work for their own Economic Liberation, where waste can be used as raw material and become a source of employment for our people.

Our collective actions will surely make a difference. This is why in partnership with our Key Strategic Partners- The Public Service Transformation Department, the National Environment Management Authority, the Ministry of Environment and Mineral Resources, the Ministry of Public Health and Sanitation, other key Ministries, the Local Authorities in Kenya, the Provincial Administration, A Better World, Akiba Uhaki Foundation and other Partners, we are moving deliberately in sensitizing and mobilizing Kenyans to work towards A Clean Kenya where waste is separated at source.

And this is why we are inviting Kenyans to join with us in The Clean Kenya Campaign and be a Member of Kimisho Sacco Society Ltd

Welcome.

Nairobi Market Traders Society- TCKC

Friends,
The Clean Kenya Campaign-TCKC today met with the leadership of the Nairobi Market Traders Society and resolved to host a Massive Clean-up across all the 53 Markets in Nairobi on the 10th October 2012 as we celebrate Moi Day.
The Nairobi Market Traders Society was led by the Chairlady Ms Judy Wambui Gitau and the Secretary Mr. Irungu Mundara and had several committee members from across several Markets from Nairobi.
The Clean Kenya Campaign Team was led by our Chairman Mr. Elijah Agevi and it included Mr. Wycliff Edgar- an Intern at TCKC and Odhiambo T Oketch.
Mr. Elijah Agevi- Chairing the meeting with Nairobi Market Traders Society today
In the meeting, the following issues came up and The Clean Kenya Campaign is going to pick the same with the relevant Government Authorities and our Partners;
  1. Provision of Services; it was noted that the City Council of Nairobi has withdrawn all cleaners from the Markets and as such, the Traders are organizing matters of cleanliness by themselves, and again, there are no Watchmen posted to guard the Markets.
  2. The Markets do not have water, yet, water is key to life and cleanliness.
  3. The Markets have not been painted in a very long while, and the Market Traders need this to be done to enhance their new resolve of making the Markets Clean.
  4. The Traders want all the Markets re-carpeted. Most are in very deplorable state.
  5. Most of the Drainage Systems in the Markets are blocked and the Traders want these opened.
  6. Then lastly, the Traders want Electricity to be provided to the Markets.
I think these are very basic services which are very mandatory in every market. It was also noted that some of the Toilets are not in working order and as such, action need be taken urgently.
We at The Clean Kenya Campaign are excited that the Market Traders have decided to join with us in this Journey of Hope across Kenya. The Markets are the pivotal points where the society meets. All our provisions, from food to clothing are sourced from the Markets and as such, if we can make our Markets Clean, and more so if the Market Traders in their own volition decides to join in The Clean Kenya Campaign, then, we are sure that we will get it right as a Country.

The Market Traders did join with us for The 2nd Consultative Forum on Waste Management and in pursuit of the Resolutions reached thereat, they have embarked to help make a difference. We are hence inviting all Kenyans who believe that a Clean Kenya is possible to join with us across the 53 Markets in Nairobi on the 10th October 2012 to help make our Markets Clean.
Let us all work for a Clean Kenya as a Transformative Deliverable as we turn 50.
