Welcome to KCDN

This is KCDN, an Environmental Management, Economic Empowerment and Poverty Eradication Civil Society.

We welcome you to our site. Kindly feel free to share with us your thoughts. Ideas that add value will be appreciated. Ideas that want to make us improve our physical environment will be welcome. And more so, ideas that redirect us from the lost cause will be of immense value.

It is us who will improve the lot of our Environment, our Economy and make Kenya a Clean Country, where People join hands to work for our own Economic Emancipation and where Municipal Solid Waste Management is looked at as a resource, not as waste.

We need to set the standards in this region of the World and become the referral point in how a people can join hands and work for their own Economic Liberation, where waste can be used as raw material and become a source of employment for our people.

Our collective actions will surely make a difference. This is why in partnership with our Key Strategic Partners- The Public Service Transformation Department, the National Environment Management Authority, the Ministry of Environment and Mineral Resources, the Ministry of Public Health and Sanitation, other key Ministries, the Local Authorities in Kenya, the Provincial Administration, A Better World, Akiba Uhaki Foundation and other Partners, we are moving deliberately in sensitizing and mobilizing Kenyans to work towards A Clean Kenya where waste is separated at source.

And this is why we are inviting Kenyans to join with us in The Clean Kenya Campaign and be a Member of Kimisho Sacco Society Ltd

Welcome.

KCDN Presents Cheques to needy Students

Friends,
When we hosted the Donholm Clean-up Campaign on the 6th August 2011, we did promise that we were going to pay school fee for some students.
We were given names from the District Education Officer Embakasi and today we presented cheques worth Kshs 15,000.00 to 3 such needy cases.
First, we were at Embakasi Girls Secondary School wherewe were received by Mr. Abraham Lagat and Ms Emily W Masele- the Deputy Principal.

Here, we presented Ms Joyce Kabingo- Form 1S and Ms Linet Awuor- Form2E with Kshs 5,000.00 each. Joyce has fee arrears of Kshs 38,527.00 while Linet has fee arrears of Kshs 58,690.00
We next went to Kayole South Secondary School where we presented Ms Mary N Mutheu Form 1G with Kshs 5,000.00. Ms Mutheu is an Orphan who is being supported by Mr.Musa Nyamae whose children are also attending the same school.
We want to sincerely thank all the Friends of KCDN who made this happen. Specifically, we would want to thank Mr. Phillip Kisia- the Town Clerk City Council of Nairobi and Mr. Daniel Juma- Global Peace Youth Corps for donating the said moeny.
We want to appeal to more Friends to step forward and help us make the change we need.
To all of us we say, Thank You.

KCDN is requesting for your support

Dear Friends,

We have been on the campaign trail on the proposed new constitution for the last 20 years. At least it is coming to an end on the 4th August 2010 when many of us will be voting YES.

We are voting YES because we have been in the struggle and we have lived its ramification.

We saw how children suffered whenever we had conflict, and this made us at KCDN come out more strongly in support of our kids.

On the 7th March 2010, you will remember that the KCDN offices were broken into and all our items taken away- everything from our caps to our chairs to our computers to our files. We made a report to the Police in Kayole, and sadly, nothing has come of it till today.

This was an evil scheme to kill KCDN but we have come out of it much stronger. In between, Akiba Uhaki Foundation stepped in to help us develop our Strategic Plan in April. That is now complete and we will be sharing the document with all Friends of KCDN online. We have annexed the support from Friends of KCDN in the Strategic Plan and we will mail this to all the Friends of KCDN.

In between, we also received a financial boost from a Friend from Switzerland Ms Brigitte Frey. She came to know about us via an article that I had done on Donor Syndrome. She then visited our blog and was impressed. She decided to become a Friend of KCDN. We really thank her and we know through her and all the Friends of KCDN, we will reach out to more people of goodwill who will be able to help.

We want to move to a new office on 1st of August, and we believe that you can be able to support us in whatever way. We need office equipment, tables, chairs, filing cabinet, basically all that makes an office work.

We will need to pay office rent, our staff members, and run our programmes. We can only do this with your support.

This is not an easy task, but we are determined to make a difference for the Children we are supporting come 3rd December 2010 when we will host the 3rd KCDN Child Support Initiative.

Please give us the support that you may, and help us come back to owning an office.

Peace and blessings,

Supporting KCDN

A Friend from New York has today sent us Kshs 3,980.00 to help support our activities.

He has requested to remain anonymous and as such, we want to take this opportunity to register to him our heart felt appreciation and gratitude. We are focused on our mandate and shortly, in line with our Strategic Plan which has been ably funded by Akiba Uhaki Foundation, we will release our revised schedule of activities.

We will remain faithful to our core support to Orphans and Vulnerable Children, to our Peace Building Initiatives and to our Environmental Management efforts.

We would also like to continue being appreciative of all the support that we have received from Friends of KCDN, from Corporates and from Institutions.

Let us all unite and be of more support to humanity.

Peace and blessings,

Odhiambo T Oketch
CEO KCDN Nairobi.

2nd Edition KCDN Child Support Initiative

1st October 2009

Hi,

It is that time of the year when we are coming together in support of our children, both orphan and vulnerable by mobilizing for them educational support. And the count has just begun.

Our First Edition of the KCDN Child Support last year on 5th December 2008 was a big success. We supported 250 children in need with books, stationery and uniforms and as a result, many children and their parents came to us. We listened to their stories, visited with them, talked with their teachers and we were moved. We made up our mind that we will mobilize support for the ones that looked most deserving. We came up with a list of 1950 such deserving cases and on 4th December 2009, we will give them what you shall have given to us.

As we did last year, we can once again come together and be of help to our children. This is what we need;
