Welcome to KCDN

This is KCDN, an Environmental Management, Economic Empowerment and Poverty Eradication Civil Society.

We welcome you to our site. Kindly feel free to share with us your thoughts. Ideas that add value will be appreciated. Ideas that want to make us improve our physical environment will be welcome. And more so, ideas that redirect us from the lost cause will be of immense value.

It is us who will improve the lot of our Environment, our Economy and make Kenya a Clean Country, where People join hands to work for our own Economic Emancipation and where Municipal Solid Waste Management is looked at as a resource, not as waste.

We need to set the standards in this region of the World and become the referral point in how a people can join hands and work for their own Economic Liberation, where waste can be used as raw material and become a source of employment for our people.

Our collective actions will surely make a difference. This is why in partnership with our Key Strategic Partners- The Public Service Transformation Department, the National Environment Management Authority, the Ministry of Environment and Mineral Resources, the Ministry of Public Health and Sanitation, other key Ministries, the Local Authorities in Kenya, the Provincial Administration, A Better World, Akiba Uhaki Foundation and other Partners, we are moving deliberately in sensitizing and mobilizing Kenyans to work towards A Clean Kenya where waste is separated at source.

And this is why we are inviting Kenyans to join with us in The Clean Kenya Campaign and be a Member of Kimisho Sacco Society Ltd

Welcome.

Statement from Odhiambo T Oketch

Friends,
I have enjoyed reading the tales being spinned around on the Social Media and indeed, I can now confirm that I am an Enigma. I invoke unmatched fear to some people while I excite many Kenyans in to positive action across the whole Country.
In February last Year, when we were planning for the Kongowea Clean up Campaign, I was such attacked as I was on transit to Mombasa. It did not dent my resolve even a bit to keep working for a Clean Kenya. That attack exposed the work we are doing to many people and the end result was many more people joining in as Friends of KCDN. The same attack now has made two Institutions call me seeking to have a working Partnership with The Clean Kenya Campaign.
I did not intend to respond to the allegations that have been brought to the Social Media, and I was again instructed by my Board of Trustees and the Management Board not to respond. But because the issues are in the Public Domain, it is important to set the records straight.
At no time did KCDN near collapse to be salvaged by anybody. We have grown in strength by the day. And at ALL times, we have had a very Clear Work Plan and Time Lines.
From our postings, you will see some very clear time lines on what we are supposed to do and where we are to do it. If anyone has an issue with me as a Person, kindly get me at Dagoreti on the 26th January 2013 when we will be hosting a Clean-up and a Peace Walk across Dagoreti. Better still, call me on 0724 365 557. But going viral on line and enjoining my wife to issues she cannot respond to are simply beyond my comprehension, and I will NEVER engage in such infantile discussions.
Secondly, the work we are doing across Kenya has now made great impact in Government Circles. Just the other day, ALL Government Departments working in the Environment Sector hosted a meeting to Review what they have been doing, and they are now concerned that they need to start proper Waste Management Processes. I am happy that The Campaign we have sustained has led to this. And again, there is evidence of what we have done across Kenya, and NO ONE can dispute this. Besides, our benefactors are all Happy with what their support is doing at The Clean Kenya Campaign. None has left us and more are joining us, and soon, we will have the capacity to shape The Clean Kenya Campaign to what we all want for it. Building structures for an Institution is not like walking to a tap and switching it on. It needs some intellect and I am happy our Board of Trustees and the Management Team have given me their utmost support towards this.
Major James Oswago joins in the Mukuru Clean up and Voter Registration Campaign at Mukuru on the 14th Dec 2013
Thirdly, I am the Executive Director at The Clean Kenya Campaign and the Bark Stops with Me. I will never run away from my responsibilities at The Clean Kenya Campaign. We have grown this Campaign to this admirable level and of course, we must have some people who must not be happy with what we are doing. If their concerns are genuine, we will listen. But if those concerns are out of jealousy, bitterness, and misplaced egos, it will NEVER bother us. Again, Institutions have inbuilt Dispute Management and Resolution Mechanism. The concerned Person did not attempt to make use of this. He was so bitter to the extent that what pre-occupied his mind was how to KILL The Clean Kenya Campaign and more so, paint me in bad light. His allegations will NOT make me what he is talking about. If it is meant to dampen the spirit of our Partners, he is in for a rude shock. Watch this space.
Fourthly, every organization has rules to manage her affairs. This is called The Constitution. In such Constitutions, roles are spelt out and responsibility given out. As the Executive Director, I am guided by that Constitution and subsequent discussions with the Board of Trustees and the Management Board. I honestly do not report to any other organ, employee or volunteer. Hence, if someone joins us as an employee and or a volunteer and he or she decides to play John Githongo on us, he or she is simply in the wrong place.
Fifthly, I am not under any obligation to respond to any infantile imaginations from persons who are bitter in life. Community Service has never been a bed of roses. You are bound to meet good men and women, and you are also bound to meet people who profess that they are the only credible persons and paragons of virtue under the Planet Earth. They will tout their credibility as loud as possible but in practice, they can NEVER run and manage an Institution. I am hence NEVER worried with such people, and I will NEVER respond to what they say and write. I have work to do and ALL our Partners are happy with what we are doing at The Clean Kenya Campaign.
Sixthly, at The Clean Kenya Campaign, we NEVER respond to Calls for Proposal. We work with Partners and Friends across the World, People who believe that we are doing the right thing. As The Executive Director, I am hence inviting anybody across the World who has an axe to grind with me, to write to our Partners and give them evidence of any such impropriety on our part or on my part. Writing and making allegations is very easy.Again, writing about me and my wife on social media simply indicates how empty some people have become. I simply have no time to engage in such vengeful antics. The Lists of our Partners can be found in our Website- www.kcdnkenya.org or at http://kcdnkomarockswatch.blogspot.com Kindly provide evidence to our Partners and I will deal with it when called upon to respond. Anger and bitterness has NEVER built an Institution, and it does not make you credible.
Seven, If anyone thinks that he has any damning evidence against Odhiambo T Oketch and The Clean Kenya Campaign that will make our Partners run away, he is in for a big shock. Our Partners are NEVER driven by ego trips, infantile imaginations and bitterness. They are driven by Facts- Hard Facts.
Eight, and this is an advice to all detractors; you will NEVER derail us. Instead of fighting Oto and The Clean Kenya Campaign, please launch your Campaign and employ all the best practices and be credible as you want and we shall judge you on that. But as at now, The Clean Kenya Campaign remains firmly credible and on course at a time Vugu Vugu Mashinani remains DEAD.
