Welcome to KCDN

This is KCDN, an Environmental Management, Economic Empowerment and Poverty Eradication Civil Society.

We welcome you to our site. Kindly feel free to share with us your thoughts. Ideas that add value will be appreciated. Ideas that want to make us improve our physical environment will be welcome. And more so, ideas that redirect us from the lost cause will be of immense value.

It is us who will improve the lot of our Environment, our Economy and make Kenya a Clean Country, where People join hands to work for our own Economic Emancipation and where Municipal Solid Waste Management is looked at as a resource, not as waste.

We need to set the standards in this region of the World and become the referral point in how a people can join hands and work for their own Economic Liberation, where waste can be used as raw material and become a source of employment for our people.

Our collective actions will surely make a difference. This is why in partnership with our Key Strategic Partners- The Public Service Transformation Department, the National Environment Management Authority, the Ministry of Environment and Mineral Resources, the Ministry of Public Health and Sanitation, other key Ministries, the Local Authorities in Kenya, the Provincial Administration, A Better World, Akiba Uhaki Foundation and other Partners, we are moving deliberately in sensitizing and mobilizing Kenyans to work towards A Clean Kenya where waste is separated at source.

And this is why we are inviting Kenyans to join with us in The Clean Kenya Campaign and be a Member of Kimisho Sacco Society Ltd

Welcome.

The Huruma Clean up Campaign; Garbage in the mind

Friends,
In Partnership with the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission Nairobi Region, the City Council of Nairobi, the Redeemed Gospel Church and many Friends of The Clean Kenya Campaign, we hosted our 1st Clean-up Campaign this Year at Huruma Estate in Nairobi this morning.
The Team picking the working tools at the Redeemed Gospel Church
We converged at the Redeemed Gospel Church as from 7.00am and the Garbage Truck from the City Council of Nairobi was in time with working tools and I must appreciate Mr. Isaac Muraya- the acting Director of Environment at the CNN, Mr. Roy Alex- the Assistant Director of Environment, Mr. Duncan Miheso, Mr. Raphael Omondi and the City Council staffers who joined with us in this exercise today. Your resilience and dedication to duty was clearly seen by all.
I must also appreciate Ms Bilhah Kiptugen- the Regional Electoral Coordinator for Nairobi Region and the Constituency Coordinators from Nairobi  who joined with us in this exercise. They are determined to work for a Clean Kenya.
Ms Kiptugen was in the frontline in the trenches
And I must appreciate the Redeemed Gospel Church; Apostolic Bishop Dr Alfred Kitonga, Senior Pastor Josephine Kitonga, Rev Frederick Muvengei, Rev Obonyo, Rev Muthui Muluma- Personal Assistant to Apostolic Bishop Kitonga, Ev Patrick Muli and the entire Redeemed Gospel Church Family for your support. Welcome to The Clean Kenya Campaign and let us all work for a Clean and Peaceful Kenya. And I want to salute the Apostolic Bishop Dr Kitonga for sending his Personal Assistant to be with us and to close the Forum with Prayers. Thank you Sir.
Garbage has been an emotive issue and today, I want to invite Kenyans to wake up and clear the garbage in our minds. Why is it that we are dropping garbage at every corner and blaming someone else for our own mess?
This is not acceptable. We must wake up to the reality that a Clean Kenya will not just happen. It will start with us clearing the garbage in our minds as we start handling our physical garbage responsibly. We must have clearly designated places as holding grounds for garbage that is yet to be removed.
We must then enforce the Environment By-Laws and arrest all those who litter our Country. The Central Business Districts of most of our Towns and Cities are clean because the law is being enforced. We must hence all join hands and help in enforcing the law, so that as we celebrate our Silver Jubilee on 1st June 2013, we all have something to celebrate; A Clean Kenya. If others can do it, we can also do it.
How come some neighbourhoods are so clean? What do they know that most of us do not? Again, this is not acceptable. We must not live and dwell in filth as if we are pigs. And when it rains, all hell brakes loose.
We are heading for our 1st General Election under the New Constitution and Rev Frederick Muvengei who prayed for us captured our message to Kenyans pretty well. He invited all Kenyans, across all the 47 Counties to realize that we are all One Big Family under God and as such, come 4th March 2013, let us troop to the Poling Stations, vote in our ideal Leaders and accept the results of our choices.
The CCN Ward Manager Huruma- Enock, in action. He is flanked by Edgar from TCKC and Mr. Raphael Obonyo of the Evironment department at the CCN
He also lauded The Clean Kenya Campaign for our efforts in mobilizing Kenyans to work for a Clean Country and a Peaceful General Election. He noted that this must be the rallying call from each and every one of us. It must not be left to the IEBC and the Councils alone. We must all be responsible with how we handle and manage our waste and garbage, and then how we vote.
The same message was also echoed by Bishop Dr Kitonga- the Apostolic Bishop of the Redeemed Gospel Church Family when he called me after the event. He also lauded the Peace Campaign and promised to be in the front line in championing this across Kenya and Africa. We are setting a meeting with him to discuss this and more.
Ms Kiptugen talking to Family Tv who were on hand to cover the evnt. She is flanked by Odhiambo T Oketch, Mr. Roy Alex, Mr. Raphael Obonyo and Mr. Duncan Miheso- all from the City Council of Nairobi
Ms Kiptugen called on the residents of Nairobi to Campaign Peacefully and turn out in large numbers to vote. She was appreciative of this Campaign and pledged their total support for the same as IEBC Nairobi Region. The meeting was also addressed by Ms Milliam- the Mathare Constituency Elections Coordinator and her colleague from Starehe and the Political Aspirants who were present.
On the 12th January 2013, we will be in Kibra Constituency and our Teams on the ground are mobilizing for an even more bigger turnout. This is our Calender of Events for the next 8 weeks;

The Consultative Forum after the Clean-up at the Church Hall
The one thing that must be in our lips; A Clean Kenya starts with you and I. It starts with me. And a Clean and Peaceful Election is our responsibility as a people. We must remain as One Big Family under God even as we campaign for the various leaders and as we eventually vote for the people we want.
We shall crown the 8 week Campaign with a National Prayer for Peace and Uhuru Park where the IEBC will invite all the Presidential Candidates to make a Peace Pledge in Public.
This Year is very crucial for us. We are hosting the General Elections on the 3rd March 2013 and then, our Silver Jubilee on the 1st June 2013. These are milestone and transformative events that need our intervention and participation.
We at The Clean Kenya Campaign, working with you, are keen to make the most of this. We must galvanize and mobilize Kenyans into action, action that will leave a clear trail; that a Clean Kenya is realizable.
This is why as we invite your support and participation with us during this circle and especially this Year, we must also keep paying special tribute to all those who made the Year 2012 such a remarkable year for us. We must make special mention of the following Partners;

  1. The Public Service Transformation Department at the Office of the Prime Minister,

  4. Africa Youth Trust,

  8. The Municipal Council of Mombasa,
  9. The Municipal Council of Kisumu,

  11. and a Host of Friends of KCDN- listed under Partners in our Website.
Rev Muthui Muluma- the Personal Assistant to the Apostolic Bishop Dr A. Kitonga was at hand to offer us the closing Prayers as he passed greetings from the Apostolic Bishop to the Team
It has never been easy and it will never be easy. But with us holding hands as One Family under God, it will always be easy.
And it is not late to enjoin us with your support. It will make all the difference.
Lastly, I want to sincerely appreciate our Team at The Clean Kenya Campaign. You make it so easy for me to make noise; Edgar Wycliff Onyango, Dennis Seko, Rev Sam Okech, Ms Juliet Mwaniki, Dennis Nyakundi, Jacob and all the Team Members who joined us at Hurumu- stay blessed.
Let us all work for a Clean Kenya, a Clean Africa and a Clean General Election as a Transformative Deliverable as we turn 50 in Kenya.
